Old Fashioned Hot Cider
Inspired by the apple tree in our backyard, this "cocktail" is a great treat for those cold day and nights and is a great recipe to have for an easy to make, batch-able recipe for when company comes.
Old Fashioned Hot Cider
- 3/4 oz Kvas Northern Maple Old Fashioned Simple Syrup
- 8 oz Apple Cider (Non-Alcoholic)
- 1 oz Whisky (Optional)
- Garnish: Apple Slice or Cinnamon Stick
Heat apple cider and syrup over the stove, pour into a mug and add whisky if desired. Garnish with an apple slice or a cinnamon stick and you've for yourself a winter warmer!
This recipe can also be batched (x recipe by number of people) and heated up in a crock pot. Add whisky just prior to serving to avoid any loss of alcohol.
While we live in the city, our 1/2 acre property was old farm land, so we have a large apple tree and two pear trees. Even with one tree, we have more apples than we know what to do with, next year homemade cider perhaps!?
